日本は、今週末、1月19日（土）と20日（日）が、大学入試センター試験です。Yoshiさんからはこんなお便りをいただきました。

bookartbookshop で SKU Fieldwork ProjectのZine展示
bookartbookshop(London)のShowwindowにSKUのZine作品が展示されます！Jan.24,2019
Londonのbookartbookshopで、1月24日（木）、SKU Fieldwork ProjectのZine作品が展示されます。このお店は、アートブックとともにZineをたくさん扱っています。Mugikoは、この書店について何度かレポートし[Blog: ロンドンからZine レポート(4) 2015, (5) 2016]、また経営者のTanyaさんのお話をHSでもお届けしました(HS Podcast No.342, 2017)。アートと本と人とをつなぐこの場所で、甲南大学「フィールドワーク研究」の受講生たちのZine作品を展示できたらいいなあと考えてきました(Blog:ロンドンからZineレポート(9)2017]）。そんな夢が、今回、実現することになりました！また、HSとブログでレポートします。

Manga ＆Martial Artist Kofiさん（前半）
12月28日のHSに、SKU2018チーム「電車通学」トークのコメンテーターとして初出演（HS Podcast No.406)、Manga Artis Kofiさん（Artis Bio)のお話を２回にわたってお届けします。Kofiさんは日本語で話し、英語でも分かりやすくまとめてくれました。ありがとうございます。

Part2, 最初の出会いはDragon Ball、漫画と武道、起承転結
Kofi is a Mangaka who writes stories in both English and Japanese. He first developed an interest in Japan through anime, specifically Dragon ball. Kofi studied Japanese for two years at Parkland college and then began to study on his own using online resources. He has recently published the first book in his Manga series entitled Azuki.

Kofi is not only a visual artist, but also a martial artist. He grew up training in Shaolin Kungfu under his father. He has trained and competed in many forms of combat including 9 years of Boxing. In 2012 he became a Golden Gloves champion. Kofi explained that unlike combat sports, where the primary goal is to win, Kungfu is about gaining a deep understanding of oneself . Much of what he has learned as a fighter is transmitted into his stories.

In 2017 Kofi flew to Fukuoka, Japan to study Manga and train at a professional Boxing gym. He says that Japan was the best experience of his life. In Japan, he learned the Japanese storytelling style known as 起承転結 Kishoutenketsu.
One of the main differences between Japanese and Western comics is that Japanese Manga uses the Kishoutenketsu storytelling format. After studying in Japan Kofi started college and began working professionally as an artist. He also teaches a workshop on the Kishoutenketsu storytelling style.
Kofi is currently a student at Eastern Illinois University studying Studio Art and Chinese. By Kofi

Manga Artist
“Manga”という単語はもちろん日本語を起源とする言葉ですが、近年は特に、「マンガ」の技法(いわゆる「アメコミ」やフランス語圏の「バンド・デシネ」の技法とは異なる部分もある)を用いる作家は日本国外でも”manga artist”を名乗ることが多いように思います。アメリカ国内では、1990年代前後に比べると一般の書店や公共図書館などを通じて日本発のマンガに触れる機会がかなり増えたのではないでしょうか。 by Ryuta
