連邦議会議事堂周辺のフェンスが撤去- Tamaki

本日のHarukana Showは、Ryutaさん(Shizuoka)とMugiko(Kyoto）が、日本時間の7月15日に収録しました。先週の話題(HS No.537)に続き、TamakiさんからWashington DCの写真が届きました。

先週末に議事堂のフェンスが撤去されて自由に行き来できるようになったんですよ~。30℃超えの日中を避けて夕暮れ時の午後8時30分頃から血糖値コントロールで食後の散歩へ。Tamaki

WRFUの電波塔の配線修理完了

UCIMCのコミュニティラジオ局WRFUのZoom Meetingが、7月15日に開催されました。最新のニュースとして、電波塔の配線の不具合の修理が終わり、電波がフルに届くようになりました（半径10kmほど）。WRFUの番組関係者が、100フィートの電波塔の登って確認作業をするなど、かなりDIYなラジオ局です。一方、ラジオ局スタジオ内のコンピューターが先週の日曜日に故障、こちらも、WRFUスタッフがひとまず修理して、放送・配信はできるようになりました。コロナ禍で厳し状況にありますが、それでも、人が人とつながりながら、この小さなラジオ局も、なんとか運営されています。Mugi

日本では、オリンピック開催のため祝祭日、移動しています

勤務先から、「オリンピック開催に伴い祝祭日が変更されていて、手帳やカレンダーの記載とは異なっている場合があるので、授業日などに注意してください」という内容の連絡が届きました。私の手帳では、確かに、7月19日（月）「海の日」となっていますが、実際には、五輪開会式前日の7月22日（木）に変更されています。そして7月23日（金）の開会式は、「スポーツの日」（本来10月1日）から移動。24日（土）、25日（日）の週末と合わせて、４連休となります。

しかし、東京では非常事態宣言下、また東京、埼玉、千葉、神奈川の４都県のCOVID-19陽性者数は増加しています。来週、本当にオリンピックを開催するのだろうか。何のために？オリンピックの祝祭日が印刷されていない手帳を見ながら、気持ちがスッキリしません。

COVID-19ワクチン接種も、一部で混乱

日本での新型コロナウィルスのワクチン接種は、国からのワクチン供給量が見通せず、新たな予約が一部できなかったり、職域接種の日程が予定より遅くなるなど、地域によっては混乱が生じています。（「京都市で高齢者接種の取り消し相次ぐ　市が２回目優先、戸惑いと憤りの声」京都新聞2021年7月13日。「ワクチン予約システム、初日から混乱　医師会が運用開始も数時間で不能に」京都新聞 2o21年6月29日）

Tomさんの曲紹介

Harukana ShowメンバーのTomさんは、全米をツアーして回る元ドラマー、ソングライターでした。Harukana Showでは、あまり音楽の話をしないのですが（BABY METALについては熱く語っています：HS No.385, No.445)、今回は、 Tomさんが、音楽評を送ってくれました。

Tomさんは、普段、音楽を聴く時には、歌詞の内容にはこだわらず、むしろ、知らない言語の曲を音として聴くそうです。曲そのものがもたらすサウンドにひたる。そこから何を感じるか。そんなTomさんにとって、Kwabsの曲は、幸いにも、サウンド、リズム、リリックがうまくあっているおすすめ曲です。

一方、Atarashi Gakko（新しい学校のリーダーズ）は、TomさんがYouTubeで見つけました。Tomさんにとっては、この日本語の歌詞は全くわからないのですが、曲とダンスの身体パフォーマンスがパワフルで何だか触発される感じ、面白い！Tomさん、相当にハマっているようです。

Kwabs – Last Stand 

Most of these songs are not new, but they are relatively new to me. I often don’t listen to lyrics — which is one reason that I tend to enjoy music from musicians who sing in languages that I can’t understand — because I want to immerse myself in the sound of a song  and just feel whatever the music makes me feel. More often than not, what the artist intends their song to be about doesn’t fit with the way the music moves me, and that kind of conflict is of course distracting. Fortunately it doesn’t always work this way and Kwabs’ Last Stand is a case in point. The lyrics fit the music perfectly and the whole package is, in my opinion, an artistic gem. -Tom

Kwabs – Walk 

I find that this song with it’s deep gospel influences has the perfect title. The groove is a perfect slow walking speed that fits very well with a mood of walking alone and pondering something tragic that you are nevertheless determined to overcome. -Tom

新しい学校のリーダーズ「恋文」  

With Atarashii Gakko it is difficult for me to separate their music from their performance because their choreography is generally so brilliantly crafted that once you see them dance to a song the movement and the music merge to form an inseparable whole . I chose this song however because the music itself has a life of it’s own and it sticks in my mind. I can’t exactly say how it makes me feel, I just know that I like it.-Tom

新しい学校のリーダーズ「迷えば尊し」

Although this song is generally one of those that is very difficult to separate from the groups’ performance of it, the music gives me such a strong feeling of hope that I think it stands by itself too. For me it seems to inhabit a place at the very edge of someone finally winning against overwhelming odds. You haven’t won yet, but the end is in sight and this gives you a surge of energy that seems as if it is destined to bring you out on top. -Tom
